Howard R. Dallenbach age 70 of Westbrook passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Westbrook Funeral Home with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Interment is in the Westbrook Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service - Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Howard R. Dallenbach was born August 12, 1941 in Johnsonville Township, Minnesota, to Alfred and Alma (King) Dallenbach. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and attended school in Walnut Grove. Howard enlisted in the US Army in March of 1963, served as a Specialist E-4 and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He was assigned to A Company of the 141st Signal Battalion, 1st Armored Division. He received his honorable discharge in April of 1965. Howard was united in marriage to Clarice Christensen on November 26, 1966 in Hendricks, Minnesota. For most of his life, Howard worked as a gas station mechanic, and later purchased Howard’s Service in 1987. He owned and operated this business until he was forced to retire in 2005 due to health reasons. Howard enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice at the station, playing slot machines, and buying lottery tickets. He also liked going to movies and was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins fan.
Howard is survived by his wife Clarice; children: Melisa Dallenbach (David Schroer) of Hanley Falls, Chris Dallenbach of Westbrook, and Jesse W. Dallenbach of Yuba City, CA; sister Frannie Haecherl of Tracy; brother Harvey (Marie) Dallenbach of Walnut Grove; his beloved dog Snoopy; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Gertie Aanenson.
